How to Create Your Own Affirmation Journal (with Prompts!)

Affirmations are a REALLY powerful tool for personal growth and manifesting the life you desire. But did you know that creating an affirmation journal can amplify the impact of your daily practice?

Journalling not only reinforces your affirmations but also allows you to dive deeper into you. Your thoughts, feelings and progress can become much much clearer when you put pen to paper. Whether you’re new to affirmations or looking for a way to hone your practice, creating your own affirmation journal is a super simple and effective way to stay aligned with your goals and mindset, whilst giving you a little boost in motivation and positvity 💛

In this post, I’ll guide you through the process of creating your own affirmation journal, along with some helpful example prompts to get you started!

Step 1: Choose Your Journal Format

First things first, pick a journal format that suits you! It could be:

  • A physical notebook: This allows for a tactile experience and can be a great way to engage with your affirmations on a deeper level. Pick something in your favourite colour or a cute pattern that you love to lend that little bit of good energy to your journalling.
  • A digital journal: If you’re a fancy digital kind of person you might prefer a digital format for your journalling. Apps like Notion, Evernote or Google Docs are perfect for this.

The key is to choose a format that feels right for your lifestyle and helps you stay consistent. Once you have your journal, it’s time to set the intention!

In fact you should start immediately, go grab a notebook right now, I’ll wait. However, if you can’t right now, no worries, just save this post for later and come back when you’re ready.

Step 2: Set Your Intention for the Journal

Before diving into writing, take a moment to think about your goals. What do you want to achieve with your affirmations? What is it you would like to change in your life, what could you add to elevate your life? Do you want to increase self-love, manifest abundance or attract a soul mate? Setting a clear intention will help guide your practice and keep your entries focused.

For example, if your goal is to build confidence, your intention might be to use the journal to strengthen your belief in yourself and embrace your unique qualities. Write it down if that helps you to focus.

I find this step crucial. When I first stepped into the affirming and manifestation world, I soon realised that I was just affirming for the sake of it and I didn’t actually know what I wanted. I thought I knew but I didn’t. Once I sat down with myself and actually thought about tangible things I wanted to incorporate into my life or the things I wanted to experience, everything changed.

Step 3: Choose Your Affirmations

Now we get to put pen to paper (that is, if you haven’t already written down your intention). Your journal is open and a perfect blank page is staring up at you. Now what?

You already have the internet at your fingertips to find affirmations that resonate with you and align with your goals and intention. You can choose generic affirmations (e.g. “I am worthy of success”), use them to build on and make them your own (e.g. “I am confident in my abilities at work”). Or you can create whole new specific affirmations tailored to you, based on the areas you want to focus on (e.g. “I walk into every room knowing I belong there and I carry myself like a god (or goddess) who knows they’re meant to be seen.”

💡 Choose affirmations that meet you where you are but stretch your belief just enough.
Pick statements that feel almost believable. If you what you want feels too unbelievable you’ll make things harder for yourself, you’ve got time, you can work up to it. Break your goal down into believable steps. Just think, does it really resonate with you and can you picture acting in alignment with it?

Step 4: Add Prompts to Dig Deeper

While affirmations are a great start, journalling is about diving deeper into your thoughts and emotions. Adding prompts to your journal can help you reflect on your progress, challenges, and breakthroughs. And even helping to uncover any pesky limiting beliefs. Here are a few prompts to inspire your writing:

  • “What limiting beliefs do I have about my goal?”
  • “How can I strengthen my belief in my ability to manifest my desires?”
  • “What are 3 things I’m grateful for today?”
  • “How do I feel when I repeat my affirmations?”
  • “What evidence do I have that my affirmations are coming true?”
  • “How can I embody my affirmation in my actions today?”

These prompts will guide you to reflect on your journey, help you dig deeper to make your manifestation journey that much more smoother stay and help keep you aligned with your goals.

Step 5: Create a Routine

The power of affirmations comes from consistent practice. To make the most of your affirmation journal create a routine that works for you. Whether it’s first thing in the morning or just before bed, dedicate a few minutes of time each day to write your affirmations, reflect on the prompts and feel the positive shift in your mindset. Remember, energy flows where focus goes.

Consistency is key. Repetition helps build belief and rewires your brain for success. Over time, affirmations become more believable, gradually shifting your inner world and aligning your thoughts with your goals. As you continue to stay consistent, you’ll find that the affirmations you may have once doubted begin to feel true, unlocking new levels of self belief and possibility. Even if you can’t journal every day, just a few times a week, every week will make a difference!

Step 6: Reflect

Periodically revisit your old journal entries to reflect on your progress. What has changed since you started? How have your thoughts and feelings evolved? Celebrate any wins, big or small and continue writing new affirmations as you grow.

Creating your own affirmation journal is a simple and wonderful way to harness the full potential of affirmations. By combining positive statements with deep reflection and intentional practice, you can shift your mindset, manifest your goals, and cultivate the life you truly desire. So, grab a journal, choose your affirmations and start your journalling journey today!
